The grapes growing on the hills

On to wine country today. 4.5 hours in the swanky red car, a.k.a. The Candy Apple, and despite the rental company mix up, we were very thankful for the aux jack that permitted us to hook our iPods up to the stereo as we sang our hearts out to Tool and Elton John, rolling with the florescent green hills. We passed lazy, fat palm trees and sheep all over the place. We weaved in and out of the mountains and crept through lots of cute little towns. Everything here is an assault on the visual senses. A 4.5 hour road trip is more of a privilege then a chore.

We arrived in Napier which has a distinct art deco and tropical flair. It’s hot here- almost 30 degress. I love the sunshine and the heat and the palm trees. The further north we go, the more tropical it becomes. Bring it on.

It felt like our own little version of the movie ‘Sideways’ without the dysfunction or flair. We did some wine tasting in the vineyards and bought a nice bottle of Shiraz to go with the steaks we’ll grill for dinner tonight. Yup, for those of you who know me, my health kick has laxed considerably, especially since they have the most delicious black liquorice here, covered in chocolate no less, that I just can’t keep my hands off.

I really don’t think this trip could get any better.

Except tomorrow I go bungee jumping and I’ve had nightmares about this foreboding experience almost every night since I’ve been here. I mean literally, too.

I guess what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right? Hopefully you see another entry. If not, it was nice knowing you all. ;)

Just remember, when they count down to 1, just jump. Don’t even wait or you may not jump. Take lots of pics too. I have to see this first hand. Bunjee jumping is sooo much fun.

All your blog fans have been waiting with bad breath…er baited breath for your next entry.

This is kind of like the time I was looking really forward to seeing Britney Spears in concert, and she cancelled last minute because she couldn’t find her underwear. You can’t just disappoint fans like that – you lose faithful followers that way!

We don’t want to wait til you get home to hear about the rest of your trip!
